You make a good argument for the soul's purpose. In days gone by this would make perfect sense.

Today the soul has abandoned us, and how could we know?

Today we are each on our own, trying to determine which way to turn, which way to go?

Sorry but the old rules no longer hold. Today it is each soul for itself, always trying to determine which end is up. And we often misinterpret the seemingly obvious answers, the answers are always trying to trick us.

The easy answer is, we don't have a clue.
