Yes, the common curse we all share. The one with no easy solution. I have a cheap plan on my old phone for use in the States, Though not completely sure why.

Then I have a Mexican Telcel plan in my newer phone. I recharge it at the convenience store each month for ten dollars. It's only for the data.

I really cannot remember the last time I actually 'talked' on the phone. I'm sure it was more than a year ago.
