I Don’t Do That Much Talking . . . These Days” — Jackson Browne

These days I seem to think a lot, About the things that I forgot to do,
And all the times I had, A chance to . . . Jackson Browne

Yes, I’ve been out walkin’. It’s Sunday so I didn’t bring my camera. It’s Sunday, and she needed a day off. I needed a day off also.

This is not the story I had planned for today. Instead it is the story that showed up. And who am I to argue with what shows up?

I often listen to music as I format a story and sequence the photos. Today it was Jackson Browne’s Solo Acoustic Album, Volume 1. I listen to this album often, here in Oaxaca.

The song, These Days, comes from his album, For Every Man, released in 1973.

The first time I heard this album, shortly after it was released, I was struck by the lyrics of this song. I am still as haunted by these lyrics, as I was the first time I heard them.

It was the line, Please don’t confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them . . . that went straight to my heart. It still does . . . every damn time.
