Walking In Circles This Morning

No Guru, No Method, No Teacher — Thank You, Van

As so often happens, I wander around making exposures of what happens to catch my eye. It’s a rather random flow. I have no reason to try making sense of it. I am happy to be in the moment, as I capture moments.

Seems a fair exchange, though not that it matters. When that inner voice says, “Click” I click, and continue walking. No teacher, no method, and certainly no guru. Just following the juju, that this Van Morrison song has inspired for more years than I can count.

The lens gets up closer as I begin to see abstract patterns appearing on the screen. Another couple of inches closer and the scene becomes six inches more abstract. Time to click. I can sort out the details later.

To sort it out later, means saving some of the fun for later. The exposure is only one piece. Often the ‘sorting it out later’ is the true prize. The transformative moment.

It’s that piece where magic can happen. Though it requires catching a glimpse of that magic, before clicking the shutter.
