Today’s Images and Thoughts On The Restrictive Choice
One Camera, One Prime Lens, One Film Simulation
The concept of The Restrictive Choice came from one of my fellow writers and friends, Ted Ozawa. We connected as writers here several months ago. We also discovered we had both studied photography at the University of Oregon, though about fifteen years apart.
Ted left a comment for me this morning, mentioning this idea of the Restrictive Choice. This refers specifically to venturing out with one camera, one prime lens, and choosing some version of either color or black and white mode.
I was happy to read Ted’s comment today before I took my camera for her morning walk. The Restrictive Choice is the method I have been using since I arrived in Oaxaca a couple of months ago.
Each morning before stepping out the door, I select a lens and set the camera for either color or monochrome. Most of the time it’s the blanco y negro version. This is Spanish for black and white. I wrote a story about it recently. You can find it at the link.
