Looking down upon the Xochimilco Aqueduct during the middle of winter. The scene is dry as a bone, it’s dry season in Oaxaca.

It’s been three months since the last small bit of rain fell. And the rainy season is still two months away. The difference between the two seasons is extreme here.

Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter have little meaning in this part of Mexico. The weather here consists of only two seasons, wet and dry. The effects are obvious everywhere here in Oaxaca City today.

It’s quite a change for one who has experienced four distinct seasons most of their life. I am one of those people. Yet I am fascinated by this view, no matter the season.

Art on the wall with strong shadows of tree branches.

The strong light of mid-morning. The bare tree shadows dance atop etchings pasted to the white wall. A bit of graffiti is thrown in for good measure. A typical example of mixed media in this city.

I have come to love this combination. A combination that is constantly changing, ever evolving. Street art in Oaxaca is a living, breathing life form.
