Oaxaca Is One Very Colorful City

This is the third in a series celebrating the people of Oaxaca. The first two featured black and white images, though in those stories I wrote often of what a colorful city Oaxaca is.

Funny it only occurred to me today to use color photos. It is easy for me to get attached to a concept, and somehow ignore alternative options. Silly me.

This image was made on an early Sunday morning. I had heard something about a parade later in the day. These horses and riders arrived early. I think it has something to due with the concept of time here in Oaxaca.

What I am trying to say is . . . there seems to be very little concept of time here, other than a very loose concept. It is part of the Mexican culture. The frequent use of the word mañana, (tomorrow), explains everything.

These cowboys seem to care less. They know they will be informed when it is time to begin queuing up. Until then they will relax and enjoy their Sunday morning.
