First Morning Walk In The New ‘Hood

This is my first portrait, on this first morning walk, in my new Xochimilco neighborhood. I am seeing flora I’ve not encountered in Oaxaca Centro. My delight is surging, flowing, and just plain being, well . . . delighted!

I’m going to call this, the Succulent of Tongues. Reminding me of all the tongues I have experienced. Different sizes, different curves, different shapes, different tastes. Mostly pleasant memories, a few not so much. Like life itself.

It is like the air is different here. Almost like a different climate. Of course it’s not, though it sure feels that way.

I can only chalk it up to the history of this small, village like, neighborhood. The ground, the earth here, holds this history. This history seems to some how influence the nutrients in the soil, in the air. It is truly magical.

Even some of the Agaves have a different appearance. Showing off new personalities. This one in particular has a unique haircut, rather hip and modern in its own way. Trimmed close up the sides, with a wild tussle at the top.
