There is definitely more than one kind of desert. The high desert at 7000 feet follows the seasons. Summers are hot, winters cold. Spring and fall are glorious. It's the dryness that is pervasive.

This environment certainly offers a variety of detritus to examine, and photograph! Dry tumbleweeds can be 4 to 5 feet in diameter and weigh virtually a few ounces. This land always feels very prehistoric to me.
