My New September Journey, Began At Two In The Morning

The new month arrived in odd fashion. I woke at 2:00am, shaking off one of those bizarre nightmares that arrive on occasion. My solution is to get up, make coffee, and begin the new day. It’s how I separate from the old ghosts, and step into the current moment.

After a page of scratching in my journal, I caught up with my Instagram roll. Then it was time to see what was happening on Medium. This is the morning routine I have followed since landing in Oaxaca. It gets the new day going in a manageable way. It works for me.

The journal writing put some distance between me and the nightmare. Instagram was uneventful. I had to remind myself it was still the middle of the night.

It was opening Medium that caused my jaw to drop. In a good way. In a way that caused my heart to swell. In a way that brought tears to my eyes. Tears of joy that is. Tears of gratitude were also part of the flow. Actually, I was shocked, again in a good way.
