Rain fell throughout Saturday night. I woke early Sunday morning to a cool saturated dampness. Gray skies revealed themselves at first light. My mood was lifted by the zone eight overcast. It is both a Pisces, and a photography, thing.

I stepped out the gate into the cool gray dampness, and headed for the Xochimilco Aqueduct. I had never seen water flowing here. There was something mezmerizing about seeing this historic structure functioning as it was meant to.

I walked a couple of blocks north to the small bridge that crosses the stream bed that flows towards the Aqueduct. This was another water way I had only seen dry. The muddy water was a delight for dry eyes. My heart swelled at this view. Water flowing is pure delight, always.

To see this waterway serve its original purpose took me back to another time, when this flow was constant. This flow that delivered water to the growing community that became the Oaxaca City of today.
