My love of Black and White Photography tends toward the dark. It always has. Darkness has been my nature for as long as I can remember. I was born into this world with a shadow around my shoulders.

I can easily pin it on a lot of things in my early upbringing. Though I did for many years, I no longer do. I now accept, cherish really, that I came into this lifetime, with this shadow. I chose it, before crossing the river of forgetting.

This shadow has given me the opportunity to not only accept it as my nature, but to transcend it. Each day I move a little further on this path of deliberate transformation towards the light. This morning’s photo walk played its part.

This morning before stepping out onto the street, I had a talk with my camera, Joni. I asked her to help me with this lightening up thing. I asked her to help me find the light. I asked her to point us towards lighter subjects.
