I Will Not Give Up On Instagram
Value Remains, I Only Have To Scroll A Little More To Find It
Many are the voices that say, “Instagram is dead.” That it has gone downhill. That the feed is nothing but advertisements. That it has been taken over by the so called, influencers. Much of this is true, though there is more to this story.
We have lived with advertising in our faces for several centuries. It is part of life. Bits of it here and there can even be beneficial. The rest only requires us to look the other way. Turn the page. Scroll a little longer.
Back when we read newspapers and magazines, while holding them in our hands, they were full of advertisements. We didn’t throw a fit, we simply turned the page.
There was a time, near the end of last century when advertisements were an art form. Think of those wonderful campaigns in Interview magazine, when Bruce Weber was photographing models for Calvin Klein.
Yes, those gorgeous young bodies, wearing only skimpy, tight and white, underwear. Herb Ritts was doing similar stunning work. And there were many others. Portraits in Ralph Lauren ads, were pure art.
