I Start With The Photos, and Do It My Way
After All, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words”
We have all heard the old saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” I know it’s true. It works for me.
The sax man above was playing the old Frank Sinatra tune, “My Way.” I heard him from where I was sitting and immediately walked over to listen closely. I also put 20 pesos in his hat.
When he was done, I thanked him, smiled and said, muy hermosa, very beautiful. He gave me a fist bump. We were both happy. Oh, and then I asked to make his portrait. He smiled and nodded yes.
My Way has been my theme song for nearly six decades. Ever since my mother told me it was. At the time she did not say it in a complimentary way, but it was true. I’ve never forgotten it.
That’s why I wanted to be closer to the man playing it. It was a lovely reminder, and it applies to how I write my stories here. I start with the pictures.
I’ve been a paying member on this platform since 2016. I’ve read hundreds of stories, usually several a day. I have written here in fits and starts. Never quite gathering any momentum…
