I have never added the member link to any of my stories. I am here to write, not to help sell memberships. I also find it a bit degrading. I also don't ask for tips, but that is just my preference. I have no judgement about those that do.

Mostly for me it's about aesthetics, I want my stories to be as uncluttered as possible. Just my words and images.

Bottomline, Medium needs to do better. People pay big for subscriptions to online newspapers because the want to read the news. The same is true here, because people want to read.
