Great story, Abena.

I learned of this Japanese tradition and philosophy from my first ceramics instructor way back in 1970. He had studied in Japan with master potter, Shoji Hameda. And I have loved this technique and Zen tradition ever sense. And I love how it runs counter to the western tradition of 'throw it away and buy something new.'

I also love how you have applied this concept to writing, a valuable practice indeed.
