Great piece here, Matthew. I have been a photographer for 50 years, 35 years of film and darkrooms.
Before I moved to Mexico over two years ago, I did research into a new digital system. I ended up buying an X-Pro 2, along with a couple of manual Artisan lens. And I could not be happier.
The experience with the X-Pro and manual lenses is the closest thing I've found to a film camera. And the JPEGs are great. I have never shot a raw image in my life.
And editing on an iPad with Snapseed makes the whole process effortless. I'm sure I shot ten thousand frames the first year I was in Oaxaca.
All the best to you.
