Great piece, Don. I couldn't agree more. After 35 years with view cameras and the Pentax 67, my beginnings with digital were less than satisfying.
I have now found a camera that works for me, and with me. I'm using the Fuji X-Pro2. Everything is turned off, the only thing I see on the LCD is shutter speed and aperture. And I love using the manual lenses from TT Artisan. The focus peeking on the Fuji is great. I set the shutter speed, choose the aperture, and dial in the focus on the lens. It's simple , straight forward, and most importantly works for me. I use it everyday because it makes me want to take pictures. Might not fit your needs, but that's my two cents. All the best to you.
