After nearly a year of living in Oaxaca, there are moments when I almost feel jaded. I say this in a good way, as I wouldn’t change a thing, and have no desire to live anywhere else. Life in Oaxaca is good.

The one year mark is a week from today. I find it ironic that the first morning I woke up in my new home, was the same day the headlines announced Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. One of those WTF, Go Figure, moments.

Besides an odd mark on the calendar, I have not discovered any remote similarities, between world news and my arrival in Oaxaca. I raise my face to the sky daily and say, “Thank You, for this new life.”

I have easily made more photographs in the last twelve months, than in the last twelve years combined. I am sure arriving with a new to me, and unused camera system, played a part in all of this.

After using an iPhone 6S, as my only camera for the previous six years, having a new, and real camera that offered manual focus, no doubt played a role in this burst of creativity. Yet there were other reasons.
