This is Saturday morning in Oaxaca, Mexico. I’ve been here about six weeks now. To be in Oaxaca, after the last couple of years of craziness in the States, is a joy each new day.

After the first couple of weeks I settled into a productive routine. I like routine no matter where I find myself. It’s my way of staying grounded, happy, and grateful to be alive.

This routine begins with making coffee, as it’s impossible to begin a new day without it. Am I right?

Next I download the new morning’s thoughts in a journal. I then toss the coins, and read what wisdom the iChing offers for the day. The morning sequence ends with a fifteen or twenty minute meditation. And I’m good to go.

After finishing the second cup of coffee and pulling on my boots, I hang the camera over my shoulder, and I’m out the door. The earlier the better.
