The Days Have Become More Colorful After The Rainy Season
Signs of the changing seasons are everywhere in Oaxaca City these days. The Day Of The Dead celebrations lasted for two full weeks. Millions of marigolds were used in these celebrations.
In the days since, there are left over marigolds in the oddest places. I have often seen pickup trucks full of the decaying flowers. Seems the clean up after the national holiday, equals the same number of days as the celebrations themselves. Which also equals the days of preparations.
There is no ‘easy come, easy go’ to this most important holiday of the year. I find the entire process fascinating. I also know many were both enlisted, and employed, to make the lengthy process possible. High Holy Days indeed.
Now the visual themes and decorations are more tuned to celebrate the seasonal increase in tourism. Store fronts and businesses are sprucing up their exteriors to entice the many new visitors to spend their dollars.
