I lived in the San Felipe del Agua neighborhood during my eighth month in Oaxaca City. I have just returned for a three month stay in this quiet enclave.

San Felipe is two miles north of Oaxaca Centro. It is one of the newer neighborhoods in this varied city. Every neighborhood has its own distinct feel and flavor.

San Felipe is greener, quieter, and more peaceful. It has a more residential feel. It is also close to the forested mountains that rise on the northern horizon.

Making photographs in this neighborhood is a different experience. There is very little graffiti and street art. These are seemingly replaced by a great variety of cactus gardens and growing green vegetation.

All of the images in this story were made during that first month I lived in this neighborhood, back in October of 2022. It was a treat to go back and revisit these views as I was putting this story together.
