It is late Autumn in Oaxaca. The rainy season ended a month ago. The ongoing ten day forecast, is either full sun or partly cloudy. Partly cloudy translates as full sun, with a handful of scattered clouds.

I am missing the soft light of the rainy season. It suits both my mood, and my photography practice, better. Perhaps it has to do with my early training in the Pacific Northwest.

The images illustrating this story were all, made in the shade. Yes, a bit of direct sun sneaks into the corners. That’s what sunshine does.

Oaxaca City is full of brightly colored walls and buildings. I often feel like those deciding on wall paint were given a 64 color box of Crayolas to choose from. You will find versions of all 64 in this colorful city.
