I have thought long and hard about writing this story. It is a long and rather convoluted story in its entirity. It is the story that ultimately lead to my move to Oaxaca City earlier this year.

Like so many stories, it is one of relationship. A relationship that ultimately soured. A relationship that carried many lessons. A relationship that had a large impact on who I am today. Though in its early days, not always in a good way.

We met online in one of those pseudo hip photo classes. One where you post a photo a day for ten days, and write briefly of how you interpreted the daily prompt.

Looking back it was a poorly run course, with a self professed photo guru. It was the first time I had participated in such a thing. The first time I had taken part in an online class, on any topic.

As fate would have it, I began to visually and energetically connect with a woman from Australia. We left knowing comments on each other’s work. A shy dialogue began. We both ended up taking a followup course with the photo guru.

Though I am convinced now it was more about furthering our personal connection, rather than anything we were learning from the one running the show.
